Join us this Thursday, November 17th at the Evans Street Bridge in Syracuse for a National Day of Bridge Action where we ask our leaders to create jobs and fix our aging infrastructure!

It is a startling fact that most of our infrastructure in our community is crumbling. Bridges are dangerously close to collapse, schools and buildings have fallen into disrepair. Now is the time to invest money in our aging infrastructure and at the same time create hundreds of jobs right here at home.

Why: There are three bridges that cross the Onondaga Creek, all of them in desperate need of repair. They have been rated deficient by Department of Transportation. Two of the bridges are 690 overpasses that see thousands of cars daily.

When: Thursday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m.

Where: Evans Street Bridge (off of Franklin Street)

Thursday, November 3, 2011 – NY Leaders Recognize Lyons’ Commitment to Working Families

Lloyd, NY- Gerard Lyons, candidate for Ulster County Legislature in District 10 (Lloyd and Milton) received strong statements of support from US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Representative Maurice Hinchey and Assemblyman Kevin Cahill. Gerard Lyons has been a lifelong champion of middle class New Yorkers. Senator Gillibrand, Representative Hinchey and Assemblyman Cahill share Lyons’ commitment to making government work for the people and not the special interests. These endorsements reaffirm the importance of Gerard Lyon’s agenda for Ulster County’s middle class.

“I am pleased to endorse Gerard Lyons for Ulster Count Legislature in the Tenth District. A recognized leader at SEIU Local 200 United, Gerard always fights to protect working families. I look forward to working with him as a member of the Ulster County Legislature and urge voters to join me in supporting Gerard on November 8th,” said Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).

“I am pleased to offer my support to Gerard Lyons in his run for Ulster County Legislature. Gerard understands the importance of responsible job creation and government accountability. He is a leader who will clearly be a strong voice for the middle and working class people in our county,” said Representative Maurice Hinchey (D-Hurley).

“I hear from constituents every day about the struggles they are facing in their daily lives—finding work, paying the mortgage. In times like these, we need someone like Gerard in the county legislature who understands the needs of working families,” said Assemblyman Kevin Cahill (D-Kingston).

“I am honored to have the support of some of the leading champions for Ulster County’s middle class. As legislator, I will work relentlessly to earn the people’s trust by protecting the services middle class families rely on and opposing giveaways to special interests that burden the taxpayer. I respectfully request your vote for myself and the entire Lloyd Democratic slate,” said Gerard Lyons (D-Lloyd).
