On May 12, child care workers at the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) in Cairo voted overwhelmingly in favor of organizing with SEIU Local 200United. The new unit at the Greene County Head Start provider became a part of Local 200United's Campaign for Action, Respect, and Equality (C.A.R.E.) in order to improve their own working conditions while remaining committed to improving ECLC's program and insuring a bright future for the children they work with and nurture every day.
ECLC of Greene County emmployees are the second group of Head Start workers to join Local 200United's 12,000-member union in less than a year. Workers at Albany County Opportunity, Inc. won their union in June 2003. Read the C.A.R.E. Mission Statement
