Now more than ever, we are seeing the value of investing in our communities. Fortunately, we have an opportunity right now to defend and improve those investments — the census!
The 2020 Census will determine how more than $800 billion in federal government funding is distributed to our states, counties and cities for the next decade. That determination is made by population, so it is important to get an accurate count of everyone who lives in our communities – that’s all residents, not just citizens or voters.
By now, you should have received a snail mail letter with an invitation to take the census online. If you do not complete the census online by April 1, you will receive a paper census. Be sure to complete this paper version and mail it back promptly.
There is not a citizenship question on the 2020 census form. Census participation is safe, important, and necessary.
