Martin Luther King Day: A Day of Service
Make it a day on, not a day off.
"Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. spent his life serving others and working for social justice and equality, and on Monday, January 18, we are spending the day doing the same thing in his honor. Throughout the country, people will be volunteering their time to help create what Dr. King envisioned: a "beloved community."
In Syracuse, the
Activist Roundtable has been collecting clothes for a clothing drive that will help local shelters. In Albany, we are celebrating Martin Luther King Day together at a large celebration. Labor councils all over the state are working on service projects.

Looking to volunteer in your area, but not sure where to find local events? There is a great website you can visit:
www.mlkday.gov. You can search for events by zipcode, and find an event that interests you.
