SEIU Local 200United represents colleges and universities all over the state of New York; we represent different types of workers as well, including electricians, grounds keepers, food service, maintenance, and more. We formed our union to have the strength to raise our voices collectively, gaining the entire unit better wages, better benefits, and better working conditions.
Colleges and universities across Upstate NY take great pride in their unique traditions of excellence. But when it comes to the workers who clean and maintain the buildings, cook the meals, answer the phones, file the papers, and shelve the books, most institutions refuse to pay living wages or provide meaningful benefits.
Across the region, employees have been organizing with SEIU Local 200United for more than fifty years. From Bard and Marist in the Hudson Valley to Canisius College in Buffalo, Local 200United represents one quarter of private college and university workers, more than any other union in Upstate NY.
