Learn MoreTROY, NY – Last week, Joseph’s House and Shelter’s Executive Director, Kevin O’Connor, declined to voluntarily recognize the union of the non-profit organization’s approximately 80 workers. In response, the union organizing committee releases the following statement:
TROY, NY – This morning, a delegation of Joseph’s House and Shelter workers, joined by local faith and labor leaders, delivered a letter to Executive Director Kevin O’Connor requesting voluntary recognition of their union with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 200United. The open letter was signed by a majority of the agency’s employees. A supermajority of the agency’s workers signed union authorization cards to demonstrate support for unionization.
After months of organizing, Skidmore College’s non-tenure-track faculty say they will file for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board with more than 60% support of their colleagues to form their union with SEIU Local 200United
